We like to support community events around Sussex. We also like all kinds of music. So RadioReverb, a community radio station, ticks all those boxes. RadioReverb has no advertising and no set playlists – DJs can play whatever they like. It makes for great shows and if you don’t like a track then something very […]
We regularly run a practical “greatest hits” training course for busy managers, to improve your skills and confidence in a wide range of areas. We like to offer special services for our clients when we can. So instead of the usual course fees of around £250 per person, we will charge our clients a maximum […]
We sometimes work with people who want to pay in other currencies. Usually they’re based outside the UK and need our help with UK employment issues. We also take payments by Paypal. So we thought we should go a little further and let people know this. Now we’re happy to announce that you can use […]
Some words make your heart sink and we know that “policy” and “handbook” are among them. Nobody starts the working day looking forward to a discussion about policies and employee handbooks. So why bother? Well, why have any rules at all – can’t you just make it up as you go along? The short answer’s […]
Employers are starting to talk about having to set up pension schemes. We’re not pension experts and we’re not going to waste your time getting involved – but we thought we would offer some tips and advice. An estimated 770,000 UK employers with between 1 and 49 employees must provide and contribute into a pension […]
If you employ anyone 25 or older on pay levels based on the Minimum Wage, you will have to put their pay up by about £1,000 a year soon. Then it will carry on increasing by roughly the same amount each year, so it’s going to have a big impact on some employers’ budgets. The […]
We believe passionately in supporting community events, projects and activities around Sussex. This year that included backing a pop-up art gallery (pictured) during Arundel Festival. During 2015, Quick HR provided sponsorship and/or practical support to a wide range of charities, arts events and organisations. We’ve supported: Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce http://www.businessinbrighton.org.uk/ Brighton & Hove LGBT […]
A new gift voucher scheme for local shops and businesses has launched in Brighton and Hove. We’re supporting Goodmoney and so far 150 businesses have signed up to take part in the scheme. You can buy £5, £10 or £25 vouchers and use them for a wide range of things including shops, cafes, restaurants, artists, […]
The Apprentice is back on our TV screens and I confess I’m not a huge fan. With my HR hat on, I find the tasks, arguments and competitiveness cringeworthy and end up throwing the remote at the screen in frustration. I do appreciate it is entertaining and funny but I wonder how many viewers think […]
It’s Living Wage week from November 1st – 7th and we have a special offer for employers who sign up to the Brighton and Hove Living Wage campaign, to show the world that they pay people more than £7.85 an hour. What is the Living Wage? It depends on the length of your working week and […]
Want to watch Brian talking about hiring people, growing businesses and types of cake? Brighton Summit is a special business conference run by Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce. More than 250 people are coming and there are various workshops and panel discussions throughout the day. This year it’s on Friday 16th October and Quick […]
It’s our 3rd anniversary! Quick HR launched 3 years ago – we’ve loved working with all kinds of people and companies since then. Now, Brian and Melissa really should celebrate. All ideas will be gratefully received.
Brian’s provided advice about social media and the workplace for an article in the Brighton and Hove Independent. Here’s the article, so you don’t have to squint at the image. Companies use social media to promote products and communicate with customers. But there are risks and rewards, from finding candidates for jobs to dealing with problems […]
Facebook, Twitter and all the other social media sites are changing our lives: keeping in touch with friends and relatives around the world, making new friends with shared interests and communicating quickly about whatever seizes the imagination. The ripple effects include huge changes for employers, both good and bad. It’s easy for companies to increase […]
We supported a pop-up art gallery as part of Arundel Festival. LOCA Arts ran the Virgin Gallery from Saturday 22nd August to Monday 31st August. The gallery, at the Victoria Institute in Tarrant Street, featured a wide range of artists who were fresh to the Arundel Gallery Trail. Artists created works at the site and there were special […]
How can you use social media to find people when you need to recruit? What happens if an employee criticises you or your company on Twitter, Facebook or any other social media site? We’re running a 2-hour training course on Tuesday 8th September (9.30am-11.30am) in Hove. Tickets are only £45, but £35 if you’re a member of […]
What’s the difference between a Minimum Wage and a Living Wage? Well, it depends who you ask. The Government is introducing a compulsory Living Wage soon, although critics are saying that’s just changing the name of the Minimum Wage – and it will be lower than the current (voluntary) Living Wage. Currently, employers have to […]
Quick HR has a wonderful new recruit for the summer: Lewis Blemings-Derrick is helping with admin tasks as an intern. He’s just finished a degree in Television and Film Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, with a 2:1 grade. We’re helping Lewis enter the wonderful world of work and hoping he will use the […]
